TICKETING PROCEDURE WHAT IS CHAMBER MUSIC? Chamber
Music America defines chamber music as "music written for small
ensembles, whose members generally perform one to a part without a conductor."
At the
heart of chamber music lies the spirit of collaboration and the role of the
individual performer. Chamber music places the highest order of
responsibility upon the individual to engage in a close musical dialogue with
the other performers. As a collaborative expression, chamber music relies
upon the collective musical instincts, experience, knowledge and talents of
its participants to guide the process of interpreting, rehearsing and
performing a composer's creation. Historically,
chamber music has referred to Western classical music written for small
ensembles such as the string quartet. Today, however, many different kinds of
musical styles and ensembles thrive in the diverse world that is chamber
music.

Notes
from the Artistic Directors Welcome
to another season of world-class concerts.
As you know, members of the HJCMS and concert-going guests have a
privilege afforded to a small percentage of music lovers around the globe,
the privilege of seeing and hearing live virtuoso music. This privilege is only made possible
through the combination of your ongoing support, fund-raising efforts by the
staff, leadership of the Board, and a stable financial base. Since
organizations like ours rely on member support, the board is issuing a plea
to all concert attendees to become active in the Society. If you are a first-time or occasional
concert guest, please consider becoming a member. If you are already a member, please
consider becoming a volunteer.
Volunteers are the key to successful event planning, fund raisers, and
membership drives. The HJCMS is not
uncommon in that ticket sales provide less than half of the annual budgetary
needs. Corporate support, membership
growth, and increased community awareness are essential to maintaining our
current level of musical excellence.
With increased membership sales, member participation, and revenue,
our programs to educate and promote young area musicians can continue to
grow. To accomplish these goals, the
HJCMS needs you. To
become an HJCMS member, purchase a season subscription. With this membership you will be able to ·
Attend concerts at the
$15 member rate (non-member rate is $25 per concert) ·
Be invited to the
annual end-of-season membership party ·
Be a part of the
Hausmusik concert series ·
Attend all HJCMS
sponsored master classes at no additional charge ·
Attend after-concert
dinner (on your own) with the artists at Crums on Central ·
Attend all other
events planned for the membership. As a
volunteer, you will be awarded a voucher redeemable for a free guest pass to
the concert of your choice for each volunteer activity in which you
participate. Volunteer groups will be
listed in the program and all volunteers will be recognized and honored at
the final concert of the season. Join the
fun and get on board for a labor of love as member-volunteers of the
HJCMS. Email us at hjcms@comcast.net
or call us at 706-733-5178 to sign-up as an active member of the team
dedicated to promoting and supporting world-class musical concerts here in
the CSRA. Linda
Banister & Quentin Kuyper If you
subscribe to any of the social media network regularly (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc.), it
would be beneficial to post information about the Harry Jacobs Chamber Music
Series. In addition to your personal statement, you could direct your
